February and March Newsletter - Busy in Community

We've been busy in community again with many volunteering hitting Armadale road for cleanup Australia day. Again, another year of finding weird and wonderful things. Some of our volunteers on the day almost found every part of a car, along bikes, computers and other things that had found their way onto the side of the road.

Refreshing the Four Way Test

We had the legendary Kero O'Shea join us to discuss all things Four Way Test. This created a great opportunity to reflect on our own experiences as a club on how we live the Four Way Test and reflect Rotary's values in each and everything we do.

This was also a great opportunity for our clubs' newest members to learn more about the values of Rotary and share in an understanding across all clubs across the world.

Sausage Sizzle at the movies

Mike and Morgan were cooking up a storm at the recent movies in the park for City of Armadale.

Not only a great fundraiser for our club, but an opportunity to continue engaging with the public about all the things Rotary does.

Everyone had a great time and a full stomach by the end of the evening!

Another Youth Leadership Success

Our youth leadership participants and volunteers engaging in a duck building activity.
Another successful youth leadership project done and wrapping up this funding period from the City of Armadale. This time we tried a few different activities such as our duck building reflective activity. The young people are provided a small Lego set and told to build a duck. This activity allows the young people to reflect on how the simplest of instructions can end with different outcomes and how important it is when we communicate with others to be clear, as even the best intentions sometimes go amiss.
Our collection of interesting and wonderful ducks created.

The Annual Lions vs Rotary Lawn Bowls Competition

Rotary vs Lions lawn bowls was a hit!
We're at it again with our annual lawn bowls competition between us and the local Lions club.

With some of us never having played bowls again, we saw some real beginners' luck with Olivia throwing an almost perfect bowl. In the end Rotary came out on top after some close calls and we look forward to next year when we give Lions the chance to win back the trophy.

Rotary Youth Exchange - Two host families down, one to go.

Rotary Youth Exchange student Amanda has now moved onto her next and final host family.

Amanda has already had a very busy 9 months with our club and has had many opportunities of volunteering, exploring Perth and sharing more about her Norwegian culture.

Amanda still has a few things on her bucket list such as Rottnest Island and exploring some of the more northern parts of WA.

Amanda ready for the ball with two of her host families.

The month ahead
The next month will see us planning future projects, having more social meetings and sharing the story of Rotary with the community.

The best way to follow us in through a Facebook page or by subscribing to this very newsletter!
